VW Golf Mk2

This 8 Valve VW Golf GTi came to us for a bit of TLC and a few fast road modifications. Once we started stripping the bodyshell we noticed some rather unpleasant repairs that had been carried out. Notably the fuel filler surround had been 'repaired' with newspaper and body filler...nice! This car turned into a mammoth welding session before we even got around to adding all the go faster goodies. It ended up with a 2.0 litre engine, with Kent fast road cam and vernier cam drive, BR Motorsport ( VW Tuning gurus back in the 1980/90s ) spec cylinder head, rebuilt and uprated gearbox, Koni dampers with Eibach springs and Anti Roll Bars, Black diamond discs, full stainless exhaust system, Anthracite Compomotive TH wheels and a full repaint in Porsche Metallic/Pearl Black. It looked mighty fine when it was finished; and it also went quite well......

This VW Golf Mk2 1300 was originally purchased to build myself a new rally car. The bodyshell was a very good 3 door, non sunroof specimen which would of been perfect. However.......our son was in need of a first car once he past his driving test; so it was donated to the skint teenager. The plan then developed from just tarting it up and getting an MOT, into a full blown rebuild with a trick paint job. Best laid plans and all that...

1990 spec, 3 door, Oak Green, 1.8 16v. The best example of a fine car.
This car came to us with a blown headgasket. It left with a 2.0 litre 16v motor with Shrick cams and a Bilstein suspension kit - lovely!

This poor 8 valve VW Golf was bought cheaply, had a sumpguard fitted and a pair of spotlights, then rallied until it cried enough; 200 miles with the oil light on is never going to have a happy ending....

Winter 2014. This 16v Golf Gti has come in for a few subtle body mods and a repaint in original Helios Blue. More photos to follow.
