Mk1 Ford Fiesta Rally Car RWD
We have been tasked with restoring and updating this Mk1 Fiesta rally car, which was converted to rear wheel drive back in the 1990s.
The first job was to send the bodyshell off for acid dipping to see the extent of the previous damage and corrosion.
After many rallies over numerous years, it was not a pretty sight under the paint!
We started by repairing the LH bulkead and inner wing - you have to start somewhere
Luckily we managed to find a very good donor bodyshell to use as a source of panels
Front end nearly complete
Bulkhead and chassis/floor repairs were a bit more involved than we first thought.
New chassis rails have been folded from 2mm steel and replacement Mk2 Escort rear chassis sections grafted in. Still lots to do...
