Our customer requested us to build him a replica of Bernard Unetts' 2 door Hillman Avenger touring car which won the 1976 British Saloon Car Championship.
We started with a fairly good bodyshell which we sent to SPL for acid dipping. After replacing lots of areas with good new metal we fitted a bespoke MSA specification rollcage and a few other motorsport orientated modifications.

We sourced a nice rust free 4 door vehicle which we had acid dipped at SPL.

We were tasked with giving this project a bit of TLC to the bodywork along with a new lightened and balanced engine.
A bare metal respray was decided on once we realised there had not been any primer applied under the top coat of Polar White.
You can't beat a bit of 1970s quality control at Hillman.....
