Ford Escort Mk2
This Ford Escort Mk2 was supplied as an acid dipped and E-coated bodyshell. It was built up as a Group 4 Rally car with a kit of bits from Gartrac.
Modern spec tarmac rally car
This Mk2 road rally car landed at our doors to be converted to a modern specification tarmac rally car; running a 4 cylinder BMW E30 M3 engine and sequential gearbox. All was not well under the coat of white paint, lots of rust and accident damage.....
RS 2000
Early 2020, we have taken delivery of an RS2000 for a full body restoration and rebuild.
The owners stripped the body of all the mechanicals before delivering the bodyshell to SPL for an acid dip. The first job was to order all the new panels, but unfortunately the Coronavirus pandemic has distrupted proceedings somewhat. Fingers crossed for a bit of progress later in the year.

The usual Ford Escort corrosion and a bit of early life accident damage was discovered after the acid dip. As we are trying to retain as much of the original car as possible, we thought it best not to go the complete new floor/chassis route.
A bit of chopping was required on the front end, new inner wings, front panel etc. The original factory wings were repaired as the pattern ones were not the best.
